When you hear the first three notes of the Black Parade, a chord reverberates deep down in the depths of your dark soul. Words leap out of you like a demon being summoned. It’s been 20 years, but you still weep over the poetic lyrics.
 
Your life has changed- your parents aren’t grumbling about will this phase ever end? (answer: no). No one at school is giving you the side eye because your eyeliner isn’t the goffik enough. & whether or not you still mismatch your sox or ever did actually get those facial piercings- your inner angsty emo kid is longing to scream their lungs out again during a blazing hot afternoon at warped tour.

There are things you are dying to say.

Maybe now you therapy talk your way through all your big emotions because it’s easier to intellectualize healing than feel it.

Life felt BIG at 13 (and it absolutely was).

it's dylan, you know the drill

I’m xXxdylannexXx. (But you can just call me Dylan bc unfortunately it’s not 2005 anymore). I’m a Spiritual Coach, a board certified hypnotherapist, and permanently in my emo phase.

I spent middle school getting called a poser and crying over Billy Martin & Conor Oberst. I still bristle when I read bad takes on what constitutes “real punk” in the internet comments but I try not to get involved.

I wrote a LOT of sad poetry as a teen, and now I write poetry that encompasses a wide breadth of emotions (but is also still sometimes sad lol).

I love emo culture and everything that surrounds it because of the melodramatic, too muchness. I don’t want to describe my life like it’s a beige wall because I don’t FEEL life like that. It feels big and magical and heavy sometimes, but also like anything is possible.

I have a gift for crafting prompts that get straight to the heart of things. Sometimes I use this for more ~reflectiony~ questions, but my true obsession is using it to incite creative writing. It’s brilliant what people unleash.

So get in the pit. Write with your full scribbling passion of when Britney tells you you’re just a poser. Embrace the cringe. Cry a little (or a lot).
