Re: Not Waiting

You don’t need to carve out hours and hours of time to see your creativity flourish.

I don’t know what your week looks like- but my kids are out of school and every few minutes one of my daughters is grabbing my hand to drag me somewhere (my 6 year old is nonverbal and only tells me what she wants by bringing me to the item).

When I’m not being physically pulled somewhere, I’m caught between the shower running (my daughter takes about 1 every hour), trying to remember to schedule a grocery order for that one meal I want to make this week and hopefully folding laundry??

Literally. There. Is. No. Time.

If someone came along and asked me if I had an hour to spare- I WOULD LAUGH IN THEIR FACE. (Ok- no I would put on my customer service smile that nowadays I think kinda looks like a snake person because I’m so uncomfortable when I do it, and would be like uhhhhh whatcha mean??)

It doesn’t just FEEL like our creativity is trapped underneath the roar of the vacuum- it is literally buried at the bottom of the laundry hamper, pondering- when I get a minute to myself, I’ll finally do. the. thing.

I haven’t had “time to myself” in 6+ years and I’m not about to WAIT for my life to revert back just to do the things I want to do. I’m gonna figure out to make the things I actually want to do slip into my ridiculously busy life somehow.

Some people do this by saying “wake up at 3am and work for 4 hours before your real life starts”. And cool… I guess.

But 3am still makes me want to throw up because I did that for 8 years for my “real job”. And I never want to do it again.

I don’t want your entire life to have to rearrange around something I create for you. Because…

I WANT YOU TO CREATE

I WANT IT TO BE SO SIMPLE

I WANT YOU TO PICK UP YOUR PEN & FEEL THAT ELECTRICITY.

So my writing challenges are created with prompts that take 5-10 minutes to work on.

Do them in your car. Before you go to bed. Wherever they fit into your schedule as it is RIGHT NOW.

I want nothing in the way– not time, not children screaming or groceries needing to be picked up.

You should be able to access your creativity seamlessly, easily, without the stress of learning a new skill. Just you & your pen- making cool ass poems on the couch. (Or your car or hell- the toilet if you want)

😓 if the blank page makes you sweat bullets bc you have no idea how to put what you want to say onto paper

🪦 if your creativity feels like it’s buried under 6 feet of to-do lists & stale projects

🫖 if creativity is steeped in your bones but nothing is brewing right now

Then my writing challenges are here for you.

Check out my OFFERINGS page to see what I have going on right now (and some that are always available).

And remember that even if it’d be absolute Heaven to take an entire day to write, play, and have fun- you don’t have to wait for your schedule to clear up to get creative.
